Volkswagen Chattanooga will be this years presenting sponsor for A Night to Remember’s 25^th anniversary celebration. A major NTR sponsor since 2009, Volkswagen has been very involved in the community since announcing the building of a new assembly plant here in Chattanooga.

NTR Board Chair, Irvin Overton said “It is great to have Volkswagen Chattanooga on board again this year. It takes the support of our long-time supporters as well as companies new to Chattanooga to make this event a success. With them we are able to provide more funding to local organizations making a difference for Chattanooga’s youth.”

NTR is celebrating 25 years of giving back to the community by raising over 4 million dollars in strong financial support to the area youth.

May 19 will be A Night to Remember as we welcome the Grammy Award winning R & B soul and funk duo, The Isley Brothers featuring Ronald & Ernie Isley. Special guests will be the fabulous Morris Day and the Time along with Grammy nominated R & B band Mint Condition.

The Isley Brothers recorded such hits as Twist and Shout and Contagious. They also scored another phenomenally successful hit with “It’s Your Thing” which earned them the 1969 Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance.

Opening up the show will be the one of the greatest self-contained R & B bands of our time, Mint Condition. Not My Daddy from Mint Condition’s latest album 7… was recently nominated for two Grammys, Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance. Following Mint Condition will be the electrifying Morris Day and the Time. Morris Day delivers energetic vocals and witty lyrics, complimented by his trademark smooth-as-silk dance moves, all wrapped up in flashy, dapper fashions! Some of his famous hits include Jungle Love and The Bird.

Chattanooga, Tenn. – American Grammy Award winning R & B soul duo The Isley Brothers will headline the 25th Annual A Night to Remember fundraising gala on May 19, 2012 at the Chattanooga Trade and Convention Center.

A Night to Remember, Inc. is celebrating 25 years of giving back to the community by raising over 4 million dollars in strong financial support to the area youth. Not only is it a momentous year for A Night to Remember (NTR), the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is concluding its celebration of 50 years of diversity and the university’s 125th anniversary. So it is with great pride that UTC is joining A Night to Remember as one of its partners.

Over the past 24 years, in an annual one-night only, star-studded entertainment event, these dollars have been raised and granted for scholarships, cultural enrichment and intervention programs for the youth in our urban community. Grammy Award-nominated R & B legend Charlie Wilson to Headline A Night to Remember

American Grammy Award-nominated R & B legend Charlie Wilson will headline the 24th Annual A Night to Remember fundraising gala on April 8, 2011 at the Chattanooga Convention Center.

In the past 23 years, A Night To Remember (ANTR) has raised more than $4 million for scholarships, cultural enrichment, and intervention programs for the youth of Chattanooga.

ANTR Board Chairman Irvin Overton said, “We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Teena Marie on December 26 as she was set to be this year’s headliner. However, we are very excited that the great Charlie Wilson is available and has agreed to perform at this year’s event.”

Now, with his third Jive Records solo album Just Charlie, Wilson is on a mission: to teach people how to respect, treat and speak to women. It’s about respect and total commitment, something Wilson puts on full display with the lead single “You Are”, produced by Wilson and P Music Group producer/songwriter Wirlie Morris.

Beyond music, Wilson remains committed to promoting awareness and testing for prostate cancer. As a survivor of a disease that afflicts one in six American men – and one in three African American men – Wilson in 2008 teamed with the Prostate Cancer Foundation. “When I learned that the PCF had helped to build a global research enterprise of nearly $10 billion and funded more than 1500 programs at nearly 200 research centers in 12 countries, I knew I wanted to support their efforts”, stated Wilson.

With music and his work to combat prostate cancer, Wilson has been able to sustain the passion and drive that have been hallmarks of his legendary career. “I’m still living this dream,” Wilson says. “I’m still going to the stage and I’m still having fun. I’m not there just to pick up the check. It’s about the passion and the respect that I have for the game. It keeps me going.”

In addition to Charlie Wilson, ANTR 2011 will also feature an opening act by Calvin Richardson, Grammy Award nominated singer-songwriter. In August 2010 Calvin released his fifth studio album Americas Most Wanted. The leading single is “You’re So Amazing”. His voice naturally exudes soul when he performs. He is also an accomplished writer. He co-wrote the Charlie Wilson hit “There Goes My Baby” with Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds.

Teena Marie to have headlined 2011 “A Night to Remember”

American Grammy Award-nominated R & B singer-songwriter Teena Marie, was to have headlined A Night to Remember 2011 gala.

The A Night to Remember Board of Directors was deeply saddened yesterday to learn of the death of R & B Singer-Songwriter Teena Marie. She passed away at her home at the age of 54. Teena Marie was to have been the headliner for the A Night to Remember gala in Chattanooga on April 8, 2011. The organization asks that you remember Teena Marie’s family in your thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.

A Night to Remember will update the community with information regarding the 2011 event as it becomes available. Thank you for your continued support of this event and the youth of Chattanooga.

ANTR Board Chairman Irvin Overton said, “Many of the youth that has benefitted from A Night To Remember have gone on to become community leaders and business people in the Chattanooga area. Placing the dollars we raise into our youth programs has proven to be a great investment”.

As a singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Teena Marie obliterated the barrier of race when it comes to soul music, opening the door for later superstars from Madonna to Justin Timberlake. Her music is an autobiographical adventure that cruises smoothly from southern soul and smoky jazz to dance floor funk. Some of her hits have included I Need Your Lovin’, Lovergirl, and I’m Still in Love.
